Mushroom Basket Tomatoes are large; they weight an average from 8 to 16 ounces. Their skin is a deep watermelon-pink shade with cream-colored speckles. Their maturity date is about 80 - 85 days after transplant. Start as you would any other tomato, 6-8 weeks before putting outside. This variety is not cold tolerant even though it comes from Eastern Europe and dates back to late 1700s. Mushroom Basket tomatoes are cute as a bell! Their look and shape is very unique, hence the name Mushroom Basket. Cooking wise, Mushroom Basket Tomatoes are more savory than sweet; they are great for cooking sauces! The seeds will grow true. You cannot get this tomato from the store. To our farmers market friends, it's savory uniqueness will be a stand out for sure. You want unique tomatoes in your garden, not the average kind you buy from the store. Definitely will fit the bill! Happy growing!!!
