The Three Sisters native American method is a companion planting method that has been used for centuries. Its pretty simple: First, you plant your corn; we recommend a sweet and an Indian corn. Second, put pole beans in the rows with your corn; and then third, plant pumpkin and winter squash throughout. As they start to grow, the plants emit things from their roots that the others absorb. As the beans emit nitrogen, the corn will absorb it and the beans will climb. The corn and the pumpkins love every minute of it. And it looks super cool! This is a must for every garden and homestead. It will also save you room. As you're eating fresh green beans and fresh sweet corn, then you will have a bunch of squash and corn stalks for your fall activities. Happy growing!!! the Squash King |
